Fauxbroidery (Embroidery-Style) DTF - How-To Guide

🪡 Fauxbroidery (Embroidery‑Style) — How‑To Guide

Achieve the embroidery look without digitizing, stitch limits, or minimums. Fauxbroidery combines a raised flock base with your full‑color DTF print layered on top.

🎯 What You’ll Need

  • ✔️ Heat press machine
  • ✔️ Flock HTV (laser‑cut to your letter/logo shape)
  • ✔️ DTF transfer (your artwork)
  • ✔️ Garment (hoodie, tee, hat, jacket, etc.)
  • ✔️ Teflon or parchment sheet
  • ✔️ Heat tape (optional for alignment)

Notes: No digitizing fees • No stitch count pricing • No order minimums.

🔧 Step‑by‑Step Instructions

1) Press the Flock Base

  • Position the flock HTV (fuzzy side up, carrier on top) on the garment.
  • Press at 320°F (160°C) for 12–15 seconds, medium pressure.
  • Peel carrier hot (follow your flock brand’s peel instructions).

2) Align the DTF Transfer on Top of Flock

  • Place the DTF transfer so the flock creates a visible raised border (“embroidery” outline).
  • Use a couple pieces of heat tape if needed to prevent shifting.

3) Press the DTF Layer

  • Press at 300–305°F (149–152°C) for 12–15 seconds, medium‑firm pressure.
  • Peel COLD for best edge definition on flock (allow film to cool fully, then peel).

4) Final Finish Press

  • Cover with Teflon/parchment and re‑press 10–15 seconds to bond layers and soften hand.

🧺 Washing & Care

  • ✅ Wash inside‑out, cold, gentle cycle
  • ✅ Hang dry or low heat tumble
  • ❌ No bleach or fabric softeners
  • ❌ Do not iron directly on the design

🛠️ Troubleshooting

  • DTF not sticking to flock? Increase pressure slightly; ensure flock surface is flat and fully bonded first.
  • Edges lifting after wash? Perform the final finish press 10–15s with cover sheet.
  • Misalignment? Use heat tape and close the press gently; pre‑press garment 2–3s to flatten seams if needed.
  • Texture too flat? Verify you used flock (not smooth HTV) and avoid over‑pressing the finish step.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Bold letters and patch‑style shapes sell the embroidery look best.
  • For hats/curved items, use a cap platen or pressing pillow to maintain even pressure.

That’s it! A premium, embroidery‑style finish in two quick presses—no digitizing, no minimums.
